The award was instituted in the honour of Late Anundaram Borooa who was a great scholar in Sanskrit.[2] He was the first civilian (I.C.S) from Assam,[3] first graduate from Assam [4] and an eminent lawyer. he was born in 1850 and died 19th January 1889.
History of Anundoram Boruah Award ➤➤➤➤
In the second year in 2006, the programme of computer distribution was ceremoniously launched by the Honorable Chief Minister at the Judges Field on 17th December, 2006. Like previous year, district and sub division level programmes were held for distribution. Like previous year, the programmes were enthusiastically attended by thousands of students, guardians and principals. In the third year in 2007, the computer distribution programme was launched on 2nd February, 2008 by the Honorable Chief Minister at the Judges Field. Like last two years, similar programmes were held in district and sub division level. Responses of teachers, students, guardians in these programmes were very much encouraging. Similarly, for the fourth conjugative year in 2008, the computer distribution programme was launched on 22nd January, 2009 by the Honorable Chief Minister at Veterinary Field, Khanapara, Guwahati. The distribution programmes were successfully completed though out the State of Assam. As decided by the Govt. all the student securing 1st Division in the final examination (FM) conducted by the State Madrassa Board were also included under the scheme.

Note:-The Govt. recently announced that the ARBAS / LAPTOP award 2020 will not be rewarded but will be given instead Rs. 20,000 in cash to the Bank account of the eligible candidates .
Note:- The Education Minister further announcement that the 2019 ARBAS Laptop award will be given within few days but there will be no distribution ceremony due to COVID-19 pandemic situations, it will be directly distribute to the school through Head of the Teacher/ institute. .

Students who are able to get star marks and above in HSLC, High Madrasa, SR exmination conducted by education dpertment of Govt. of Assam organized by AMTRAN on behalf of "Assam Govt."with help of respective educational board for wellness of arsing student of this year but the they need to register themselves by filling up the datasheet to avail this award in the form of a certificate and personal computer.
Eligibility Criteria For ARBAS ➤➤➤➤
Percentage & Marks:--Students must need to obtain star marks and above 75% marks.
Education Board :-- Students have to passed the examination form Secondery Edducation Board/ High Madrasa/ Sennior madrasa.

Pass Certificates duly attested and counter signed by the Head of the institution from which the applicant passed out in PDF file format.
A self attested passport size photograph of the applicants in JPG file format.
